Well set for future growth
“The opening of our new corporate headquarters is an exciting milestone on our journey to connect the economy for sustainable business. Here, our vision comes to life to create an open, collaborative, and connected environment to deliver future-leading e-procurement solutions and services to our B2B and public sector customers. Our values and innovative spirit have driven our corporate development in the past and will continue to propel our sustainable growth in the years ahead,” explained Unite’s CEO and founder, Dr Sebastian Wieser.
Unite’s employees and the Executive Board, celebrated the grand opening with the Mayor of Leipzig, Burkhard Jung and esteemed guests from the company’s business community.
Strong roots in the heart of Europe
Founded as Mercateo in 2000, Unite relocated its headquarters from Munich to Leipzig in 2019. For several years, the local offices were spread across different locations in the city. Now, the Unite team has consolidated into one central location at the heart of the city – with 42 truckloads and 368 moving boxes, reusing all existing furniture within the framework of Unite’s new work and sustainability concept.
“With our new headquarters, we are not only situated at one of Europe’s oldest trading arteries, the Via Regia, but we’re also closing a gap in our company’s history. No longer scattered across multiple locations, we can offer all Unitees a home port, regardless of whether they regularly visit from the region or our international locations for major events. This place fosters a sense of identity and collaboration – an essential aspect of our Unite culture,” adds Unite’s Executive Board member, Peter Ledermann.
Modern setup for hybrid working
The building, designed by the architects from KLM-Architekten Leipzig, was planned to meet the needs of the modern working world. The ergonomic and open workspaces offer various options for Unite employees to collaborate, attend hybrid meetings, or find a quiet spot for focused work. The eight-storey building was realised by real estate project developer OFB Projektentwicklung. The building permit was granted in November 2020, with construction commencing in 2021 and completion in the summer of 2023. Unite has invested in the interior design and signed a long-term lease for the 9,900 square metres (106,500 square feet) of office space. The project aims to achieve the DGNB Gold certification, certifying a global standard for sustainable construction.
