Based near Basel, Switzerland, GETEC PARK.SWISS AG is a subsidiary of the leading energy supplier and contracting specialist G+E GETEC Holding GmbH. Its mission is to support the manufacturing industry and property sector in becoming climateneutral. GETEC runs two modern production and competence centres in Switzerland for the life science and chemical industries. Its 50-hectare Muttenz headquarters offers international companies involved in research, development and production a well-connected business centre with production and storage facilities. Operated by GETEC PARK.SWISS, this multi-client site includes building management, energy supply, maintenance, logistics, recycling, and disposal services. GETEC has also been running the GETEC PARK.STEIN AG Life Science Park in Aargau since 2023.
GETEC PARK.SWISS AG has been using Unite since 2019. To cover an extensive range of requirements, GETEC was looking for a way to standardise its procurement processes.
“We take care of everything our clients need – from managing and maintaining the necessary infrastructure and production facilities and providing storage spaces to looking after security and building services. And that results in vastly different spend needs,” says José Lopez, Procurement Manager at GETEC PARK.SWISS AG. Occupational safety and tools in particular are purchased via Unite. However, products from the fields of electrical engineering, office equipment, machine elements, laboratory materials and packaging are also ordered.
With the help of Unite, we’ve standardised our procurement processes across all our locations, which has helped us drastically reduce complexity levels.
A wide range of vetted suppliers
Unite offers GETEC PARK.SWISS AG and GETEC PARK.STEIN AG an extensive range to meet tail-end requirements, including over five million items across several product categories from Switzerland-based suppliers. To help create a secure procurement environment, Unite vets all suppliers in advance.
We trust the suppliers on the Unite Platform more than we do suppliers we’d have to search for online.
Unite has also enabled GETEC PARK.SWISS AG to integrate its framework agreement catalogues from strategically relevant suppliers. All employees can now buy niche industry materials at negotiated conditions via a single interface while benefiting from additional items from Unite’s pre-integrated assortment.
With such a large product assortment at their fingertips, employees save lots of time when searching for products, allowing them to procure even scarce or super-specific materials with ease. “Unite helps us find materials that are hard to come by or even unavailable on the market,” says Lopez.
Catalogue integration for more efficiency
Unite seamlessly connects to the company’s internal SAP system, making it easy to integrate into GETEC PARK.SWISS AG’s existing procurement landscape. This allows employees to stick to their usual process to cover long-tail demand. A punchout takes users from SAP straight to Unite, where they can access their existing catalogues. Unite’s cross-catalogue search and smart filter features make it easy to find the right items and compare prices. Before check-out, the platform automatically optimises the customer’s shopping basket as per their preferences before transferring it back to SAP.
Being able to integrate framework agreement catalogues also lessens the burden on the purchasing department. Unite handles all catalogue maintenance tasks, including master data updates. José Lopez is happy with the company’s decision: “Thanks to Unite, our purchasing department can now focus on procurement rather than extra admin tasks.”
